Mobile phones are to be switched off or on silent. They are to be in bags or out of sight during the session and not used during this time. Training Bag
To each session please bring along a training bag containing the following:
Attire
Competitors need to wear:
Punctuality
Punctuality is essential as it ensures that the session is able to commence on time and that we are not having to repeat warm-ups, hence wasting valuable team training. It is recommended that athletes arrive 5 - 10 minutes prior to the commencement of training in order to prepare for the session.
Parents at training
As we wish for each and every training session to be satisfying for both the coaches and athletes, it is a requirement that parents are not present during the training session. The session will be open for spectators for 10 minutes at the start of the session with 10 minutes remaining for parents to observe the session. The last part of training is a great time to come along as it is of great benefit for teams to practice with an audience. Please assist us by following this guideline.
Illness/Absence
If your child is unable to attend training please notify the coach at least one hour prior to the session commencing. While some illnesses may require competitors to stay away from sessions (e.g. contagious, too ill) at times it would be useful if they attended the session to watch and get an idea of what they are missing. Obviously this is at parental discretion but something to keep in mind.
If you are unable to get a message to either coach prior to the commencement, then and only then, may a second-hand message via another athlete be sent.
Extended Absences
The Head Coach needs to be notified in writing of any long absences from sessions- 2 weeks or more. Please give as much notice as possible as it may affect team selection, competition entry as well as other team members
Departure from Training
Once the session has commenced competitors may not leave the venue without the coach’s permission. Students will need to be collected from the Highgate School Gym/grounds following their sessions. Parents are encouraged to come and watch the end of their child’s session. It is great for them to practice in front of an audience.
If your child has a late session (completing after dark) they will need to be collected from inside the building. Thank you for your support in keeping your children safe.
If you need to collect your child early from a session, where possible, please inform the coach as this will impact upon the running of the session.
Hot weather policy
As we train in well air-conditioned premises training will be held regardless of the weather forecast.
First aid
There is a first aid kit at the venue for minor incidents. We have ice packs for use at training however it is recommended that athletes keep one at home in the freezer for private use. It is recommended also that athletes keep disposables such as strapping tape (if required) band aids and tissues in their training bag.
Medical Conditions
Parents are required to speak to the head coach to inform of and discuss any illness or injuries. It is important that we are aware of any problems to ensure we met the needs of your child.
